Can medication gain you weight?

Yes! Common medications that can gain you weight are listed  here.

  1. Steroid (prednisone)
  2. Oral contraceptives
  3. Psychotropic ( zyprexa, olanzapine, paxil, lithium, etc)
  4. Insulin
  5. Thiazolinediones (Actos, Avandia)
  6. Sulfonylureas (glocotrol, glyburide etc)
  7. Beta blockers for hypertension
  8. Antiepileptics

If you are taking above medications, ask you physician if it can be switched to other weight neutral alternatives.
